Civil Law

Civil law (also known as private law or civil law) concerns disputes between citizens, between organisations and between citizens and organisations. These rights are largely described in the Civil Code.

Depending on the subject and/or the amount of the dispute, the case will be handled by the subdistrict court or the civil court. Civil proceedings can be initiated with a summons or a petition.

A summons is the introduction to a large number of civil proceedings. The summons is served on behalf of the claimant by the bailiff to the defendant. In a summons procedure, an extensive procedure is the standard: the substantive procedure. If you urgently need a ruling from the court, it is possible to initiate an urgent procedure: interlocutory proceedings.
